Amenities are the comforts and facilities a place offers — a pool, a gym, wifi, parking. Hotel amenities, local amenities, the amenities are excellent.
It is almost always plural. The word belongs to hotel listings, property advertisements and planning documents, and in the last of those local amenities has a precise meaning: the shops, schools and services within reach of a site. In hotels, amenities also means specifically the small free items in a bathroom. Note the singular amenity, which is used mainly in planning and means the pleasantness of a place — loss of amenity is a real objection to a planning application.
