antennae

UK/ænˈtɛni/
nounB2Occasional — familiar, but not everyday · #10,251 of 15,258leans written

Antennae are the pair of feelers on an insect's head. Waving antennae, long antennae, clean its antennae.

They smell, taste and feel at once, and a moth's can detect a single molecule of scent from a mile away. The plural is antennae for the feelers and antennas for aerials, which is a neat split English has settled into. Note that the Latin antenna meant a ship's yard-arm.
