aroused

UK/əˈɹaʊzd/US/əˈɹaʊzd/
adjectiveB2+Common in everyday speech and writing · #5,574 of 15,258neutral

Aroused means stirred into strong feeling or desire. Aroused suspicion, aroused public anger, sexually aroused.

The neutral sense is much the commoner in writing: something arouses suspicion, interest or anger. Because the sexual sense exists, the neutral one now needs an object to stay unambiguous, which is why aroused suspicion is fine and aroused alone is not.
