bar mitzvah

UK/ˌbɑː(ɹ)ˈmɪts.və/
nounB2Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

A bar mitzvah is the ceremony marking a Jewish boy's coming of age. Have a bar mitzvah.

It happens at thirteen, and the boy reads from the Torah in front of the congregation. Strictly a bar mitzvah is what he becomes rather than the party afterwards.
