bedroom

UK/ˈbɛdɹuːm/US/ˈbɛdˌɹum/
nounA1Very common — you will meet it every day · #943 of 15,258leans spoken

Other forms: bedrooms

The bedroom is the room where you sleep. A bed, a wardrobe, curtains you keep shut in the morning.

It is one of the first words anyone learns about a house, and it is also the unit houses are sold in: a three-bedroom flat, a spare bedroom, the back bedroom. Estate agents count bedrooms before they count anything else. The word works in front of nouns for furniture and slippers alike. And there is a slightly arch use, since bedroom scenes and bedroom eyes are about sex rather than sleep.
