body language

nounB2Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

Body language is what your posture and gestures say without words. Arms folded, leaning back, not quite meeting an eye.

It carries an enormous amount of meaning and is read constantly, mostly without either person noticing. It is also badly oversold, since the popular claim that most communication is non-verbal comes from a misread study and is simply untrue. Culture changes what gestures mean, which is why confident advice about crossed arms should be treated with caution.
