bombing

UK/ˈbɒmɪŋ/US/ˈbɒmɪŋ/

Other forms: bombings

A bombing is an attack made by dropping or planting explosives. A bombing campaign, the bombing of the city, a car bombing.

The word covers two very different things: an aerial campaign by an air force and a device planted by a person or group. International law distinguishes military targets from civilian ones, and much of the argument about any bombing turns on that line.
