branding

UK/ˈbrændɪŋ/US/ˈbrændɪŋ/
nounB2+Occasional — familiar, but not everyday · #9,239 of 15,258leans written

Branding is the work of giving a product a recognisable character. Rebranding exercise, strong branding, branding guidelines.

It is more than a logo: the name, the voice, the colours and what the thing reliably does all carry it, and consistency matters more than cleverness. The word comes from burning a mark into cattle to show ownership, which is exactly what a maker's mark on goods was doing.
