A bus stop is the signposted place where you wait for a bus. A pole, a timetable and, if you are fortunate, a shelter.
Buses stop only at them, which is what makes the sign matter, and a request stop requires you to put your hand out. The timetable is a work of optimism. In Britain the queue at a bus stop is a genuine social institution and jumping it is a real offence. The word is two words and the plural is simply bus stops.
1nounbus stopA marked place where buses stop for passengers.
