UK/ˈbʌtək/US/ˈbʌtək/

Other forms: buttocks

A buttock is one of the two fleshy parts you sit on. The left buttock, an injection in the buttock, clench the buttocks.

It is the clinical and the polite word, which is why doctors and anatomy books use it where speech has a dozen informal alternatives. The muscle beneath is the gluteus maximus, the largest in the body, and it is what lets humans stand upright.
