Other forms: buzzards
A buzzard is a broad-winged bird of prey that circles slowly. A buzzard overhead, buzzards circling, the buzzard's mew.
In Britain it is the commonest bird of prey and it soars on thermals with wings in a shallow V. In America the word is used loosely of vultures, which is a different family entirely — the same word, two quite different birds.
