character arc

nounC1Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

A character arc is the way a character changes across a story. A satisfying character arc, no character arc at all, complete the arc.

The change has to be earned by what happens, which is why a sudden reform in the last chapter reads as cheating. Some of the best-loved characters have none at all — a series can run for years on somebody who never changes.
