checkbox

UK/ˈtʃɛkbɒks/US/ˈt͡ʃɛkbɑks/
nounB1Very rare — outside the 30,000 commonest English words, so you will meet it in writing rather than in speechToo rare in one of the two pools to compare — fewer than 20 uses in speech or in writing

Other forms: checkboxes

A checkbox is a small square you click to switch an option on. Tick the checkbox, an unchecked checkbox, a row of checkboxes.

It differs from a radio button, since checkboxes allow any number of choices and radio buttons only one. Britain says tick box as readily, and calling something a box-ticking exercise comes from exactly this.
