Other forms: constituencies
A constituency is the area one representative is elected to speak for. A marginal constituency, the constituency office, my constituency.
How the boundaries are drawn decides outcomes, which is why redrawing them is fought over and why gerrymandering has a name. A safe constituency rarely changes hands and a marginal one decides elections. It also means a body of supporters. Note constituent, from the Latin for standing together.
