crematorium

UK/kɹɛməˈtɔːɹɪəm/US/kɹɛməˈtɔːɹɪəm/
nounB2+Occasional — familiar, but not everyday · #11,423 of 15,258neutral

Other forms: crematoria, crematoriums

A crematorium is the building where bodies are burned. At the crematorium, the crematorium chapel, book the crematorium.

Services are usually booked in slots of half an hour, which is why funerals there feel hurried, and the chapel is deliberately plain so any faith or none can use it. The plural can be crematoria or crematoriums. Americans say crematory.
