dawn chorus

UK/dɔːn ˈkɔːɹəs/US/dɔn ˈkɔɹəs/
nounC1Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

The dawn chorus is all the birds singing together as the sun comes up. Listen to the dawn chorus.

It is loudest about half an hour before sunrise, when the light is still too poor for feeding. Sound carries better in the cool still air of dawn, which is why the singing happens then.
