Other forms: donors
A donor is somebody who gives blood or an organ to save another person. A blood donor, an organ donor, a donor card.
Deceased donors provide most transplanted organs; living donors can give a kidney or part of a liver. England, Wales and Scotland now use an opt-out system, in which adults are presumed willing unless they record otherwise, though families are still consulted. A donor is also somebody who gives money to a charity or a political party, and major donor is the fundraising term. Note donation and donate.
