drop off

phraseB12 meaningsNot compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

To drop off is to deliver somebody or something on your way. A quick stop, and you carry on.

It splits round an object, and the noun drop-off point is where it happens, which every school has. There is a completely separate sense meaning to fall asleep, usually accidentally, so dropping off in front of the television is a national pastime. A third sense means to decline, since sales or numbers can drop off, and the noun a drop-off means that decline. Only the context separates the three.
