dustpan

UK/ˈdʌstpæn/US/ˈdʌstpæn/
nounB1+Rare in speech; mostly a word you read · #12,297 of 15,258leans spoken

A dustpan is the flat little shovel you sweep dirt into. A dustpan and brush, hold the dustpan, empty the dustpan.

It always comes as a pair with a brush, and the long-handled kind exists so that nobody has to kneel. The edge must sit flat on the floor or a line of dust stays behind, which is the whole reason the cheap ones are infuriating.
