earlobe

UK/ɪəɹ ləʊb/US/ɪəɹ ləʊb/
nounB1+Occasional — familiar, but not everyday · #11,686 of 15,258leans spoken

Other forms: earlobes

The earlobe is the soft hanging part at the bottom of your ear. Pierce the earlobe, a fleshy earlobe, tug his earlobe.

It is the only part of the ear with no cartilage, which is why it is where piercings go and why it heals well. Whether it hangs free or is attached is often taught as a simple inherited trait, and the real inheritance is more complicated than that.
