enjoyable

UK/ɛnˈd͡ʒɔɪ.ə.bl̩/US/ɛnˈd͡ʒɔɪ.ə.bl̩/
adjectiveB2Common in everyday speech and writing · #6,009 of 15,258neutral

Enjoyable means giving pleasure. Pleasant, and worth the time.

It is a mild and safe compliment, which is why it appears in thank-you letters and reviews of things nobody wants to criticise, since calling an evening enjoyable is warm without claiming very much. It describes experiences rather than people. The verb enjoy is one of the commonest in English and takes a verb ending in -ing rather than an infinitive, which is a reliable trap for learners.
