false dilemma

nounC1Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

A false dilemma is pretending there are only two options when there are more. Spot the false dilemma.

It is the commonest trick in political argument, since two options force a side. A false dilemma is beaten by naming the third option out loud.
