Other forms: farriers

A farrier is somebody who fits iron shoes to horses. Call the farrier, the farrier's visit, a qualified farrier.

The job is trimming and balancing the hoof as much as nailing the shoe, and a bad job lames the horse. In Britain it is a protected trade, and shoeing a horse without qualification is an offence.
