Other forms: fatalities

A fatality is a death caused by an accident or a disaster. No fatalities, road fatalities, the first fatality.

It is official and deliberately cold, which is why police and news reports use it: no fatalities is the phrase everybody hopes to hear. The older sense of the word is the quality of being fated, which is where the coldness comes from.
