ferris wheel

UK/ˈfɛɹɪs ʍiːl/US/ˈfɛɹɪs ʍil/
nounB1Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

A ferris wheel is the giant slow wheel of cabins that lifts you above the fair. Ride the ferris wheel, from the top of the ferris wheel, a ferris wheel at the pier.

It is named after the American engineer who built the first one for the Chicago exposition of 1893, as an answer to the Eiffel Tower. The London Eye is one, though it is called an observation wheel.
