forestry

UK/ˈfɒɹ.ɪst.ɹi/US/ˈfɒɹ.ɪst.ɹi/
nounB2+Rare in speech; mostly a word you read · #12,668 of 15,258mostly written

Forestry is the care and management of woodland. Study forestry, a forestry plantation.

It works on a timescale of decades, so nobody who plants a wood harvests it. Forestry that plants one species in rows produces timber and very little else.
