fuller

UK/ˈfʊ.lə/US/ˈfʊ.ləɹ/
nounC2Very rare — outside the 30,000 commonest English words, so you will meet it in writing rather than in speechleans written

Other forms: fullers

A fuller is the groove running down the blade of a sword. A deep fuller, the fuller of the blade, cut a fuller.

It makes the blade lighter without weakening it, in the same way that a girder is stronger than a bar of the same weight. It is not a blood groove, which is a persistent invention with no basis at all.
