Other forms: geraniums, gerania
A geranium is a pot plant with rounded leaves and red or pink heads. A pot of geraniums, geraniums on the sill, water the geraniums.
What everybody calls a geranium is botanically a pelargonium, and the true geranium is the hardy cranesbill of the border — a confusion two centuries old that no botanist has ever managed to undo. The Greek name means a crane, from the beaked seed head.
