global warming

phraseB2Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

Global warming is the slow heating of the whole planet by trapped gases. Cause global warming, limit global warming, the effects of global warming.

Climate change is now the commoner term, because warming is only part of what changes — rainfall, storms and sea level all shift too. The mechanism has been understood since the nineteenth century. The phrase came into general use after a paper by Wallace Broecker in 1975.
