grand finale

UK/ˌɡɹænd fɪˈnɑːli/US/ˌɡɹænd fɪˈnɑːli/
nounB2Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

A grand finale is the spectacular closing item of a show. The grand finale, save it for the grand finale, a grand finale of fireworks.

It is built to send everybody out talking, which is why fireworks displays load half the budget into the last minute. A concert may simply end, but a grand finale is designed to be remembered.
