Other forms: grocers
A grocer is a shopkeeper who sells food and household goods. The corner grocer, a greengrocer, buy it from the grocer.
A greengrocer sells fruit and vegetables and a grocer the packaged and dry goods, a distinction supermarkets have flattened. The grocer's apostrophe is the name for a stray one in a plural, as in apple's, which such shops became famous for.
