guy rope

nounC1Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

A guy rope is the line that holds a tent taut against the wind. Tighten the guy ropes, trip over a guy rope, slacken the guy rope.

It works only at an angle, since a guy rope pulling straight down does nothing, and the runner on it lets the tension be adjusted. Slackening them in wet weather matters, because a wet tent shrinks.
