Half-light is the dim light between day and night. In the half-light, a grey half-light, the half-light of dawn.
It is the hardest light to see in, because the eye is switching between its day and night systems and does neither well — which is why dusk is the worst time on the roads. Colour drains away first, since the cells that see colour need more light.
