huck

UK/hʌk/US/hʌk/
nounC2Occasional — familiar, but not everyday · #11,578 of 15,258leans spoken

Other forms: hucks

Huck is a coarse absorbent towelling fabric with small raised squares. Huck towels, a huck weave, woven in huck.

It has no looped pile, which is what separates it from ordinary towelling: the raised squares hold water while the flat weave dries fast and leaves no lint. Hospitals and glass polishers use it for exactly that reason.
