Ice cream is the cold sweet food you lick from a cone in summer. Frozen, whipped, and gone too quickly.
The texture is the whole art, since the trick is freezing it while churning so the ice crystals stay tiny, and an ice cream left to melt and refrozen is ruined for exactly that reason. Britain has the ninety-nine, a cone with a chocolate flake stuck in it. The word is written as two words or hyphenated, and gelato is the denser Italian version with less air in it.
