in advance

phraseB1Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

In advance means before the time something happens. Paid, booked or warned ahead of the event.

It is one of the standard phrases of any transaction, since paying in advance, booking in advance and giving notice in advance all shift something earlier than it needed to be. It takes of when the event is named. There is a strong note of prudence in it, and the advice to book in advance is what every guidebook says. Beforehand does the same job in one word.
