incomprehensible

UK/ɪnˌkɒmpɹɪˈhɛnsɪb(ə)l/<a:UK>US/ɪnˌkɒmpɹɪˈhɛnsɪb(ə)l/<a:UK>
adjectiveB2+Occasional — familiar, but not everyday · #9,008 of 15,258neutral

Incomprehensible means impossible to make any sense of. Utterly incomprehensible, incomprehensible to me, an incomprehensible decision.

It is often a complaint about the writer rather than a statement about the reader, since most incomprehensible prose could have been written clearly. Added to a decision it means baffling rather than merely wrong, which is a sharper criticism.
