Other forms: infatuations
Infatuation is a short, intense attraction that burns bright and rarely lasts. An infatuation with somebody, it was only an infatuation, get over an infatuation.
The word carries a judgement: calling something an infatuation says it is not love and will pass, and it is nearly always said by somebody other than the person feeling it. The preposition is with. The adjective is infatuated, which is likewise used from the outside. Crush is the informal equivalent and is much lighter — a crush is charming, an infatuation is a worry.
