An insulation batt is a thick pad of fibre that keeps heat from escaping. Lay an insulation batt, cut the insulation batt to fit, a mineral wool insulation batt.
It works by trapping still air in the fibres, so squashing an insulation batt into a gap ruins it. Batts come in set widths to fit between joists and studs without cutting.
