UK/ˌɪntɹəˈspɛkt/US/ˌɪntɹəˈspɛkt/
verbC1Rare in speech; mostly a word you read · #15,080 of 15,258neutral

Other forms: introspecting

To introspect is to examine your own thoughts and feelings. Sit and introspect, introspect honestly, learn to introspect.

The verb is rarer than the noun introspection, which is what psychology called its first method — asking trained subjects to report what was in their minds. It was largely abandoned because nobody could check the reports against anything.
