nounA1Very common — you will meet it every day · #1,576 of 15,258mostly written

June is the sixth month, when summer begins. In June, June weather, the first of June.

The solstice falls in it, so the longest day of the northern year is a June date — and the earliest sunrise is a few days before it, which surprises people. It is named after Juno, the Roman goddess, though an alternative account names it for the younger men, the iuniores.
