kickstand

US/ˈkɪkˌstænd/
nounB2Very rare — outside the 30,000 commonest English words, so you will meet it in writing rather than in speechneutral

A kickstand is the prop that holds a cycle upright when parked. Put the kickstand down, a broken kickstand, flick out the kickstand.

It is kicked into place with a foot, which is where the name comes from. Racing bicycles never have one, since the few hundred grams are considered too much to carry for the convenience.
