kimono

UK/kɪˈməʊnəʊ/US/kəˈmoʊnoʊ/
nounB1+Common in everyday speech and writing · #8,078 of 15,258neutral

Other forms: kimonos

A kimono is a long wide-sleeved Japanese robe tied with a sash. Wear a kimono, a silk kimono, tie the kimono.

It is always wrapped left over right — the other way round is for dressing the dead, and getting it wrong is a serious mistake. The sash is the obi and tying it properly is a skill. The Japanese name means simply a thing to wear.
