landlubber

UK/ˈlænd.lʌ.bə/US/ˈlænd.lʌ.bɚ/
nounC2Rare in speech; mostly a word you read · #13,949 of 15,258mostly spoken

A landlubber is somebody who is not used to being at sea. Call him a landlubber, a hopeless landlubber, landlubbers below.

It is a sailor's insult and a cheerfully dated one, kept alive mostly by pirate films. The lubber part is an old word for a clumsy oaf, and it has nothing to do with loving the land.
