lost property

nounB2Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

Lost property is the office holding things people have left behind. Umbrellas, phones, and an astonishing number of single gloves.

Stations, airports and large venues all run one, and British transport operators are legally required to hold items for a period before disposing of them. The American term is lost and found. What turns up in them is genuinely strange, and railway lost property offices publish lists that include prosthetic limbs and urns. There is usually a fee to reclaim anything.
