manhood

UK/ˈmænhʊd/US/ˈmænhʊd/
nounB2+Common in everyday speech and writing · #4,935 of 15,258leans spoken

Manhood is the state of being a grown man. Reach manhood, the threshold of manhood, prove his manhood.

It carries an idea of qualification rather than mere age — proving your manhood suggests a test, which is why the word appears in writing about initiation. It is also a coy word for the male genitals. Note the -hood ending, as in childhood and neighbourhood.
