To move out is to leave a home for good, taking your things with you. Van at the door, and keys through the letterbox.
It is the exact opposite of move in, and it works without an object. The phrase covers leaving a shared house, a relationship or a parental home, and moving out for the first time is a real milestone. There is a military sense meaning to advance, and a plainer sense of stepping aside, since moving out of the way is what somebody says in a corridor.
