nudity

UK/ˈnjudɪˌti/US/ˈnudɪti/
nounB2Common in everyday speech and writing · #6,382 of 15,258neutral

Nudity is the state of wearing no clothes. Full nudity, scenes of nudity, nudity on stage.

It is the formal word, used in film classifications and in law, where nakedness would sound too plain and bare too vague. What counts as public nudity and whether it is an offence differs enormously between countries and even between beaches.
