palm tree

nounA2Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

A palm tree is the tall tropical tree with a crown of huge leaves over the beach. Under the palm trees, a row of palm trees, coconut palm tree.

It has no branches and no growth rings — the trunk is a single stem topped by the leaves, which is why a palm tree bends in a storm instead of snapping. Coconuts, dates and palm oil all come from members of the family. Note that the leaf is called a frond.
