plot hole

nounB2Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

A plot hole is a gap in a story that does not make sense. A glaring plot hole, full of plot holes, spot the plot hole.

It is not the same as an unexplained thing — a story may leave a great deal unexplained and hold together, and a plot hole is where the story contradicts itself. Audiences forgive them when they care about the characters and hunt for them when they do not.
